An open-source, modular, and sustainable Laboratory Information System designed to support modern clinical laboratories — with particular attention to healthcare facilities operating in low-resource contexts.

LISemus is a progressive and sustainable LIS — starting from an MVP focused on the essential end-to-end diagnostic workflow and evolving through additional modules. Currently in analysis, architectural definition, and functional specification phase.
Functional requirements documented in LIS 4 and LIS 5 are developed in stages based on the priority matrix defined in LIS 3.
Released under the GNU General Public License v3 — fully open, transparent, and built for the public health community.
LIS Series 1 to 5 — current development status
Note: Technical documentation is currently in Italian to ensure clinical precision and alignment with local healthcare regulations. English translations are part of our roadmap and will be released alongside the first stable modules.
Development follows a priority-matrix driven approach, ensuring core diagnostic workflows are robust before extending into specialized clinical domains.
Essential features required for the system's initial launch: Patient Intake (registration and ID management), Order Management (request validation and tracking), and Reporting (core diagnostic workflows and result delivery).
Advanced features to optimize and scale the system: high-level synchronization with external HIS/EMR systems, comprehensive specialized modules (e.g., Blood Bank/Transfusional Services — Ambito 21), and advanced audit trails with system-wide data protection.
